Volume 02

Welcome back to the weekly weigh-in presented by Gym Launch. Our job is to stay on top of the buzz in the fitness industry to deliver the most up to date information to our members. Now, we're sharing the highlights with you every Friday.

If you’ve ever felt terrified to raise your prices– maybe this news will make you feel a bit better. The two most expensive gyms in the United States are EXOS in Phoenix Arizona, and E by Equinox in New York City.

EXOS comes in first place with a whopping $30k/year membership cost, or $2,500/month. What you get with that price tag is top notch equipment, the latest technology in injury detection, equipment that automatically tracks your progress for you, personalized training, guidance from a dietician, and post workout therapeutic massages. Who is working out here? EXOS has partnerships with major sports teams and brands such as Adidas and the NFL, as well as the public.

E by Equinox is close behind with a $26k/year membership rate. If Equinox is not high end enough for you, they have opened E on Madison Avenue as a luxury experience, shown in the photo above. (Yes, that's a gym not a 5 star hotel). E only has about 50 members, allowing for a private training experience.

So what can we learn from these mega posh gyms? People are willing to pay a premium price for a premium experience.

So, if we're no longer tweeting... are we X-ing? Posting an X? No one is sure, but what is important is that you make sure to update your link icons on your website. Change your Twitter links to X links. And Download Threads (Instagram's version of Twitter with a similar black and white logo), to not miss a single audience. Because none of this is at all confusing.

We sometimes forget that sports are a business until headlines like this one make the news. James Harden came forward at an Adidas press event in China to call out the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers organization, and President Daryl Morey stating, “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be part of an organization that he's a part of”.

These allegations come after Harden was verbally promised a long term max deal after last year's trade to the Seventy Sixers. However, that did not come to fruition and instead Morey convinced Harden to take a pay cut for the first year in exchange for the promise of a long term contract. After still not receiving the contract he was promised– Harden took to the public to air his frustrations with the organization.

Harden is not the only player to request a trade, and be denied. His public denouncement of the Sixers Organization could spark a bigger conversation around the future of NBA players and how they can or cannot direct the trajectory of their own careers. It’s also a good reminder that as employers, how we treat our employees matters.

Being a wife, mom, and operator of multiple businesses, means my time management has to be on point if I want to have it all (and I do). There are 7 hacks that I have found to be a game changer in me and my family's lives.

  1. Calendar Management: I schedule EVERYTHING on my calendar. Personal, business, family, tasks, fitness-– all of it. If it's not on my calendar it's not happening. Even my friends receive calendar invites to hang out.
  2. Buy Premade Meals: Buying premade meals has saved us 7+ hours per week. We use them for breakfast, lunch, and most dinners and it saves us time tracking, cooking, and prepping.
  3. Use Instacart and Amazon: We save 2+ hours a week shopping through apps rather than walking through the aisles. The saved time is worth the extra fees.
  4. Schedule Family Time: Quality of time is what we shoot for over quantity of time. We set aside one hour in the morning and 2 hours in the evening that are dedicated to our family. That means no phones, no work, no distractions.
  5. Schedule Date Night: It's easy to get caught up in the kids schedules, work, the hustle of the day to day. So, we set up a date night once a week. Non-negotiable.
  6. Schedule Workouts: Have a set time you workout each day and treat it like it's an appointment on your calendar that you cannot miss.
  7. Hire a House Cleaner: Save 3-4+ hours per week by hiring someone to do the work for you. For us the time saved is worth the cost.
