Book A CallRod Busby started on the floor of Bally’s Total Fitness, training clients and coaching martial arts. That hands-on work led to running two martial arts schools, managing a major MMA gym, and launching a bootcamp from his garage in 2014. Within six months, he hit 60 clients and opened Xplosivefit in 2015, focused on adult fitness and kids martial arts.
Five years later, Rod joined Gym Launch and applied the systems to his own gym. Year one: $20k to $70k per month. Year two: crossed $1M in annual revenue and repeated it the following year. He successfully exited and sold his location, which still operates today. That journey led him to full-time coaching at Gym Launch, where he’s been working with gym owners for the past 1.5 years.
Coaching Philosophy: Structure Over Effort
Rod’s approach is direct, honest, and supportive. He doesn’t sugarcoat problems, but he doesn’t overwhelm either. His belief? Most gyms don’t need more effort—they need better structure, better conversations, and better execution.
What drives him? The relationships built with each client. When a gym owner trusts him with their business, Rod shows up prepared, present, and fully invested in their success.
What Sets Rod Apart
Rod’s specialty is turning leads into paying members. He helps owners simplify their offer, tighten their messaging, improve follow-up, and build confidence in sales so leads stop slipping through the cracks.
Clients appreciate that Rod has been in their shoes. He’s built, scaled, stressed, fixed, and exited a real gym—and he coaches from experience.
“I’m in your corner, I care about your business, your family, and your future. I’ll treat your gym like it matters… because it does.”
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rod is based in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Outside of coaching, he trains Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing, spends time with his three kids, and stays committed to personal growth.
